Thirteen years ago, I launched the “word of mouth” measurement company Keller Fay Group with long-time business colleague Ed Keller. In 2015 we combined with a social analytics company, Engagement Labs, and have spent the last three years creating a remarkably powerful platform, TotalSocial®, that provides marketers with the keys to influence some $10 trillion in consumer spending, by tapping the power of social influence. I am extremely proud of the work we have done, which has been featured recently in the NY Times and USA Today, among other prominent publications, and led to an award announced this year by the Journal of Advertising Research. Today, I am excited to announce the formation of a new consulting company, Stepping Stone Strategies, which will allow me to venture into some new areas, with new types of clients.  Stepping Stone Strategies takes it name from my grand, antique home near Princeton, New Jersey, but it also means something else: Finding a pathway to success, step by step. “Step by step” also describes my transition. For the next few months I will remain as Chief Commercial Officer  with Engagement Labs but with some time available to begin new projects. Then, in early 2019, Engagement Labs will become my first consulting client and I will remain actively involved in marketing, thought leadership and product innovation. I will also become engaged in a wider range of consulting, including:
  • Marketing strategy and campaigns;
  • Helping local non-profits to grow and advocate for change;
  • Projects for small- and mid-sized businesses, as well as large ones;
  • Lots of writing—for hire, and for myself.
Some of this work has already begun on a volunteer basis.  As president of the Millstone Valley Preservation Coalition in central New Jersey, I helped to write and market a new documentary on local farming that had a sold-out premiere at the Princeton Garden Theater (where Peter Benchley once premiered a film called Jaws!).  That documentary has caused me to see an opportunity to promote agritourism in the Garden State, which is one of my new projects. Speaking of “volunteering,” I am also having fun helping with the marketing of my wife Jackie’s innovative salon in Princeton, Grit + Polish. I will continue to be reachable at Engagement Labs (brad.fay@engagementlabs.com) and in the company’s New Brunswick office most days initially, and two days per week in early 2019. You may also reach me to discuss my new consultancy at bfay@stepstonestrat.com. I look forward to your feedback on my latest news. Brad October 22, 2018
